Within the work of Angela Bidak, light shifts over the mist of Niagara’s Falls where the artist was raised: luminous, mutable, unsettled, yet ever present. With a palette of greens, pinks and violets combining into obscured grey hues, the opposites create an equilibrium of a veil between spheres that is both bruised and blushing. In conjunction with the enigmatic quality of the mist across the surface, Bidak’s works also contain an impression of existing disconnected to gravity. As our eye consistently finds precarious horizontal lines across the works, we are left with a sensation of instability and weightlessness. The atmosphere is a noisy and distorted one, where lost within its confines, bodies disintegrate, fracture, resist and emerge within a delicate architecture of interiority.
